Dave Spiers - Composer / Synthesist

Dave Spiers gained his experience playing keyboards and drums for the likes of Debbie Harry and Elvis Costello.

He is also a worldwide authority on vintage synths and also heads up development of synthesizer modeling software for G-Media and through this has contributed to film and video projects for Peter Gabriel and Underworld amongst others and as well as his TV composition he has recently scored the short animation film "Jungle Magic" (Freyart).

Mike Sefton - Music Publishing / A&R / Consultancy

With almost 30 years experience in the music industry, Mike rose from DJ’ing to record retailing before being voted “Club Promotions Manager of the year”, 3 years running whilst working for Phonogram / London Records, influencing the careers of acts such as Cameo, RUN DMC and Shannon. Moving onto A&R at A&M Records, Mike worked with acts such as Janet Jackson, Barry White, Crystal Waters, Robert Clivilles & David Cole, Al Green and Arthur Baker.

Following the sale of A&M to Polygram, Mike moved into Music Publishing where he worked as Senior Creative Manager and then Head of A&R for BMG Music Publishing, later heading up DeConstruction Songs, Ministry Of Sound Music Publishing and V2 Music, signing and working with writers and acts such as X-Press 2, Rollo (Faithless / Dido), Mike Pickering (M People), The Grid, Death In Vegas, Steve Anderson (Kylie Minogue), Steve Robson (Take That, James Morrison), Shep Solomon (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson) and Metrophonic Music (Brian Rawling, Paul Barry & Mark Taylor).

Mike’s extensive experience in his Creative and A&R roles both for records and publishing put him in a great position to help artists, writers, bands and catalogue owners fulfill their potential and go on to achieve everything they set out to do. In particular Mike's background in DJ culture and Dance A+R , Promotion and Retail, commissioning remixes and crossing club hits to the very top of the pop charts, combined with his experience in working and developing mainstream hit singles and commissioning music for media, is a rare blend in an industry increasing split into categories and sub genres.

Mike has recently formed 2Pointzero Music, a brand new company run by Mike Sefton and Chris Bangs who both have wide range of experience in most areas of the music industry. They can commission, produce, record, master, license and publish music for for Branding, Film, TV, Radio and Games etc. All pieces of music are Copyright Clean, so they are able to clear both Masters and Publishing in a hassle-free manner.

We will also have a short biography section for our composers to let you know more about some of their other musical activities, as well as who we are, what we do and how we work. It's been lots of work putting our website together and we've been pushing the technical envelope of our designer Jimmy Young but he has responded brilliantly to every challenge we've thrown at him and we'll be confidently recommending his services to anyone, particularly if you are the Entertainment Business!

ANDREW PHILLIPS
Andrew Phillips is a BAFTA, Emmy and RTS nominated composer and producer, who has scored over 50 TV dramas, documentaries and features. His compositions and recordings are marked out by a superb blend of classical music and contemporary electronica, with highly original arrangements, recently seen in the BAFTA Award winning BBC drama Consenting Adults, starring Charles Dance.

As a co-writer and producer he has worked with Slovo, One Giant Leap, and Passenger, which he formed with singer/songwriter Mike Rosenberg in 2005 and are currently enjoying success with their album "Wicked Man's Rest" (IE) now enjoying success in the US.

MIKE BENN
Mike Benn has written music for numerous feature films, TV dramas, documentaries and adverts for the BBC,Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel, including, Looters, The Mummies Curse, Survival Of The Apes, Oprah Winfrey Show and the Archers advert amongst others.

His record credits include writing and production for the likes of Beth Orton, Terry Callier and Bebel Gilberto, as well as remixing acts such as The Sugarbabes and Basement Jaxx". Mike also has his current band project "Road" signed to super- cool lounge/chillout label "Stereo Deluxe"

VINYL RICHIE
UK based Breaks DJ and producer Vinyl Richie has been spinning for over a decade now and his production and remix work is finding him new fans, both in the UK and internationally with extensive nationwide radio plays including Radio One + 1 Extra.

Vinyl Richie joined the team Underground Addicts early 2006 & has been working on breaks & electro tracks since then including remixes of Jungle Brothers, Q-dos & 49'ers. Richie also got involved with Groovemovers and Angie Brown in recreating the massive worldwide hit " I'm Gonna Get You" for Bizarre Inc with a brand new set of mixes that brought this classic to a new generation spawning a massive club anthem all over again.

Richie's production style takes in urban, breaks and dance music and comes from a solid background of DJ'ing @ his regular club gigs and has worked on the bill with many of clubland's best known names.

JANETTE MASON
Janette Mason completed her Mmus in composition for film and television at the London College of Music. Originally training in classical piano and flute, Janette has worked with a diverse roster of artists from legendary singer/songwriter Robert Wyatt, jazz artists Claire Martin, Ian Shaw and Annie Whitehead to pop acts Oasis, Pulp, Seal and Suzanne Vega.

His first album ' Disco For A Domestic" (Protest Recordings) met with critical and commercial success . His new album is almost written now, ready to be road tested at his upcoming London shows and the songs featured here give a taste of the growth in his writing and vocal performances.

ESPION
Glasgow based Stephen Arnold AKA Espion has been producing a variety of Electronica styles since 1994. A multi instrumentalist, Espion has many years of experience in sound production and audio engineering for Film and TV. As a DJ and live act, he has appeared worldwide alongside the likes of Rennie Pilgrem, Mekon and Bass Junkie with releases on Soma, Serotonin and Orson Records. He is currently the co-promoter and resident of Camouflage in Glasgow's Soundhaus venue.

MIKE SEFTON'S SUMMARY

Mike has been in the music industry for almost 30 years doing everything from retail to promotion and record A&R to music publishing. He hasworked for various major labels and independent companies in both records and publishing including, Phonogram (now Mercury), London, A&M, BMG, DeConstuction, Ministry Of Sound and V2.

He is now a partner with Chris Bangs in 2PointZero Music, a company specialising in top notch, copyright clean music for film,TV, adverts and computer games.

He is always on the look out for interesting and creative projects to get involved in, be it records, publishing, back catalogue exploitation or sourcing music for outside projects including film and TV and researching music for compilations of any kind.

THE QUIET BOYS - BOSH

In 1993 Chris Bangs had been working in studios as diverse as the 108 channel Neve Flying Faders mixing desk at London's Hit Factory and some tracks were laid down in a cheap 8 track studio next to a graveyard in South London. Spending long working days travelling to and from Studios all over London, Bangs decided it was time to set up his own studio for recording and mixing the Quiet Boys Acid Jazz records album " Bosh" Jazid CD 121.

The idea was to spend more time making music but it took 4 months for the bare concrete walls of the studio to get flooring and electrics installed, building a live room for recording and hours spent reading books and manuals and trying to figure out how to work tape machines and how to record a Fender Rhodes piano or Gibson guitar. Bangs never had any studio training but he was able to work with a fine mix engineer Fraser Henry who managed to pull the whole random mess together somehow just using mutes and pushing levels , Bangs had no automation in the studio at that time, bit of a loss to not have the SSL's to play around with any more !

First thing was to get Bangs rough structures laid down as proper songs on 16 track tape. Former Inversions keyboardist Stephen Jeffries was the man for the job. Bangs had just worked with him on the Quiet Boys track " Astral Space " especially recorded for the Totally Wired compilation series on Acid Jazz Records. Keys were recorded on Rhodes , Roland Mks-50 Synth, Piano and a vintage Sequential Circuits Pro One.

Percussionist Paul Gunter came in next and laid down some superb conga tracks. The live room and soundproofing had not yet been installed and the sound of skins being hit really hard, as Paul likes to do, came bouncing back off the stone walls , got recoded on bangs' 1 microphone in mono sounded really old and crusty !! Great. Bangs also got to record timbales, rainmakers, bata drums and all without a clue what he was doing.

Further musical contributions came from guitarist Nigel Price , trumpet man Dave Priseman and Sax and Flute from Gary Spacey - Foote plus vocalist Greg Franks also features on 2 songs and the extra track " Live and Love " which is only found on the Japanese release or on the Hed Kandi Nu Cool compilation series.
